Si A La Vida
SÃ a la Vida is a children's shelter located on the volcano island of Ometepe. Much like the Los Quinchos program, children are rescued from the streets of Managua and they pass through a rehabilitation program before becoming full-time members of the shelter. Their motto, "From a world on the streets to a world of respect," describes their mission of not only rescuing kids, but also integrating them into society as respectful and contributing Nicaraguans.
Long before the Pulsera Project existed, SÃ a la Vida kids made pulseras as part of an arts and crafts program. Now, we buy many of their pulseras. The kids receive pocket money up-front and all proceeds from the sale of the pulseras in the U.S. go back to Nicaragua to provide SÃ a la Vida and Los Quinchos kids with things like school supplies, shoes, bikes, sports equipment, and fieldtrips.
