Student Trips
In the past two and a half years we've supported an enormous number of projects in Nicaragua thanks to the student volunteers who have led pulsera sales in their schools and who have traveled with us to Nicaragua. These are some of the projects we've supported in the past:

Past Projects
Medicine
From powerful antibiotics to band-aids, we've supplied the Los Quinchos shelter with cartons of essential medicine.
Clothing
Volunteers collect used kids' clothes at home and our student groups haul them to Nicaragua in checked bags--more than 2,000 pounds so far.
Fruit, vegetables, eggs, you name it, we've been helping nourish kids since day one. One hundred bananas cost $10...a watermelon, 70 cents.
Food
Books
Library
Thanks to pulsera sales at Chadds Ford Elementary School, the Los Quinchos farm now has a library. It's dry, secure, and stocked with books and maps!
Scholarships
We've purchased and donated countless books, many for our library project at the Finca. The kids LOVE books, especially ones they can call their own.
In the past two years we funded scholarships for some Sí A la vida boys. $120 a month covered, books, tuituon, and living expenses.
Reforestation
The Pulsera Project funded the reforestation of a Los Quinchos orange grove that is no longer productive. This will provide them with fresh fruit for years to come.
Painting
Talk about coloring the world! We bought thirty gallons of super-colorful paint and turned the girls' home into a dreamland.
Furniture
Student volunteers purchased truckloads of lumber to build tables, benches, and bookshelves. The kids even lent a hand with the construction!
Clean Water
La Chureca, the Los Quinchos shelter in Managua's municipal dump, had no clean water supply. We bought a huge tank and had it installed.
Shoes
Three hundred kids go through a lot of shoes. In Summer 2010 our fourteen volunteers brought 580 pairs of used sneakers collected by U.S donors.
Mattresses
Thanks to volunteers and other supporters, the Los Quinchos kids now sleep on mattresses instead of thin foam. We also had a local tailor make sheets.
We've paid to fix bus brakes and leaking roofs. We've also supported the Los Quinchos shelter by helping pay the salaries of mamitas and counselors who care for the kids. We sponsored the annual family get-together of more than 200 kids and staff. Talk about a fiesta!!
Art Exchange
Partnering with schools, we help U.S and Nicaraguan school kids exchange art. It's amazing how many U.S. students can now find Nicaragua on a map!!
